Recently Wags & Warriors service dog alumni Lola and Ruger had a reunion at the local Elks Club in Nevada City.

Thank you to the Pedigree Foundation for the 2016 Operation Grant award!  The grant will be used to rescue dogs and train them as Service Dogs for veterans with PTSD

Macy was rescued from Sammie's Friends, the Nevada County Animal Shelter in Grass Valley, California to be evaluated as a potential service dog.  At the shelter Macy was very friendly toward new people she met and was not reactive to any of the shelter dogs. She went to a foster home with the hopes she can be trained and matched to a veteran with PTSD. Wags and Warriors pulls shelter dogs with the potential to be service dogs.  It takes several months to determine if the dog is calm out in public, and not reactive or fearful to new people, new dogs, or new environments. If we find after working with a rescued dog he/she does not fit the criteria needed to be a service dog, we ALWAYS find the BEST possible forever home!  We love all our rescued dogs whether they succeed at being trained and matched with a veteran or land in a forever loving home as someone's beloved pet.
